Travel to Alderney

The most popular way to get to the island is to fly as there is no real car or passenger ferry to the island from the UK.  In 2010 a car ferry service was introduced but it is a very limited service (see details below) and for a week or two's holiday does not usually work out to be practical or cost effective.

Flights can get booked up in the summer as the planes, which are Dorniers, whether direct from the UK or from the other islands, take a maximum of 19 people.

There is currently only one airline that flies into the island, as follows:-

AURIGNY (pronounced aureeny!)   www.aurigny.com  Tel: 01481 822886

* Flights to Alderney direct from Southampton

* Flights also from Manchester, London Gatwick, Bristol or London Stansted which connect to Alderney via Guernsey

* Car parking is available at Southampton Airport, cheaper if you pre-book (www.southamptonairport.com).  Allow a bit of extra time as you have to get a courtesy bus to the terminal

* The train station is at Southampton airport so no need for taxi

Other airlines like Flybe and BMI fly into Guernsey and then you can buy flights with Aurigny from Guernsey to Alderney.  If you choose to go this route it is a good idea to leave yourselves a couple of hours between connections in case of weather delays.  You can also fly into Jersey but from Jersey you have to go via Guernsey to get to Alderney anyway.

Car and passenger ferry:-
